MEET THE FOUNDER
Susan Hale
I grew up in Seattle, it was pretty quiet there in the 60's and 70's. We did a lot of skiing and ice skating as my parents were really into the winter sports. Mom made the skating dresses (which of course made you a better skater) and I really did like those things.
IT'S IN THE BLOOD.
Most of the women around me did something with textiles. My maternal grandmother was a weaver and a knitter. My mother sewed and knitted. There were great-aunts who did embroidery and one or two who quilted. I picked up a few skills over the years and when I got married and had three amazing daughters, I took those skills with me as we started traveling the world.
We've lived in five different states and two foreign countries. Right now, Montana is home and where the shop is based. That history of 'women's work' of always having something for your hands to do has shaped most of my life. It has helped shape the work that I do now, and I am forever grateful to those creative and talented women.
